Grandma Moses PrintsGrandma Moses (1860-1961), an American "primitive" painter never had an art lesson. When her fingers became too stiff to embroider her pictures, she began to paint. In the 1940s, she made and sold peach preserves on her husband's farm and sold her folksy paintings for ten dollars or less. Grandma Moses painted from the top down, mountains, hills, trees, houses, cattle and finally people. Grandma Moses never understood why people paid so much money for her paintings. Her paintings hang in many museums and private collections. Grandma Moses was featured on the cover of Life Magazine in Sept 19, 1960 with an accompanying article. These reproductions in new condition are printed on heavy quality paper and are over 50 years old. To the best of our knowledge, they have not been reproduced since then.
